“It was tough studying at Punlaan.  I had to wake up at 4:30 in the morning and take three jeepney rides from Taguig to arrive at school on time.

Often I would forego merienda since I had to save for transportation.  I would sleep past midnight to work on my assignments.

But all of these paid-off because right after graduation, I was very fortunate to be employed as a food attendant at the Larry J. Cruz Restaurant Group.  Mr. Larry

Cruz has been very supportive and I thank him very much for giving me this chance to be where I am now and for the many blessings I have received.  Because of my savings, I have been able to send my elder brother to college and my aging mother was able to retire.  I also pay for all household expenses and am the breadwinner of my family.”

“Punlaan School has taught me how to cook, bake, use the computer, prepare cocktails, table set-ups, and most importantly - VALUES.

Now that I’m employed at Makati Shangri-La Hotel, I truly understand that the values or character of a person matter more than the skills one has.  Everybody can learn how to handle the knife and cut vegetables and meat, but not everybody can practice patience in front of the guests or supervisors.

I learned that knowing different values and practicing them really help and make one stand-out among the others.

All this I owe to Punlaan and Makati Shangri-La Hotel!”

What the Industry Says

“I have encountered a lot of Punlaan trainees and I found them hardworking, fast learners, and have shown interest in all they do.  They are hands-on-workers.  In my experience, Punlaan has the most qualified and better-trained students when it comes to F&B industry.”

    - Chef Eduardo Maddela, Senior Sous Chef, Peninsula Manila

“Punlaan trainees are very patient, flexible, and have good attitudes.”

    - Chef John Mark Borlagdan, Service Manager - Kitchen, Makati Shangri-La Hotel

“The trainees have a good background in kitchen work, which is very rare nowadays from trainees of other schools.  Keep up the good work of molding young girls very well!!!”

     - Ms. Thelma Valdepenas, F&B Manager, Hyatt Hotel

“Please keep the program going - the industry needs more graduates of Punlaan.”

    - Chef Nicholas Anderson, Executive Sous Chef, Manila Pavilion Hotel

“When they come for their practicum, they are pleasant and flexible, eager to learn, decent, with good moral values.  The Punlaan Dual Training Program is very beneficial to the students because it provides them with the theoretical as well as the practical knowledge in F&B.  There is no substitute for exposure.”

    - Ms. Erlinda Tanjangco, OIC and F&B Manager, Valle Verde Country Club

“I am impressed by what the students have accomplished in their two year’s stay with Punlaan.  The teachers should be commended for the way they have molded the girls.”
